NEW ORLEANS Violent crime especially the fatal shooting of a man who broke up a carjacking is expected to top the agenda when Algiers residents meet with top New Orleans Police Department officials this evening.

At 6 p.m. at L.B. Landry High School, Superintendent Ronal Serpas will introduce the new leader of the 4th District, Commander Brian Weiss, to Algiers residents.

Weiss replaces Commander Heather Klout, who was leading the district when Mike Ainsworth was killed trying to stop a carjacking in Algiers Point.

It has been three weeks since Ainsworth's murder and police are still searching for his killer.

Serpas and Weiss, as well as some City Council members, are expected to talk about crime. Ainsworth's murder is just one killing that has racked the West Bank, and the meeting is one in a series of meetings residents have held since the high-profile murder.
