NEWORLEANS-- St. Augustine High School has hired one of the most successful high school football coaches in recent history to lead the program.
The school formally announced the hiring of Cyril Crutchfield as head football coach, according to a statement from a spokesman for the school.
Before coaching the last two years at L.B. Landry, Crutchfield led teams at Port Sulphur and South Plaquemines.
As a head coach, Crutchfield led teams to the championship game five times -- winning titles three times. At Port Sulphur, he was selected as the District Coach of the Year in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2007, 2008, and 2009.
