NEW ORLEANS One of the suspects in the death of a New Orleans dancer waived his right to a detention hearing in New Orleans for unrelated charges and may now be transferred to North Carolina.

A standing order was issued to transfer Terry Speaks from the eastern district of Louisiana to the middle district of North Carolina because he failed to register as a sex offender in North Carolina, according to Speaks' public defender Gary Schwabe.

The decision of when the tranfer will happen remains in the hands of the U.S. Marshals Service, while Speaks remains detained in Louisiana.
