PEARL RIVER, La. -- St. Tammany firefighters battled an early morning blaze in Pearl River.

Around 5 a.m., crews from St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 11 responded to a fire in the 37000 block of Hidden Oaks Lane, according to fire officials.

Smoke was visible coming from a home. Firefighters were able to enter the home and quickly extinguished the fire, according to fire officials.

'At home at the time of the fire were three adult females, two in their late 50s and one in her early 80s. All were able to escape the fire when alerted by smoke alarms. One was treated and taken to the hospital by Acadian Ambulance service for smoke inhalation,' said a statement from St. Tammany Fire District No. 11.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to fire officials.
