NEWORLEANS - Fishermen who need money to replace or repair their boats and equipment damaged by Hurricane Isaac may be eligible for help from the 'Friends of the Fishermen Foundation.'

According to the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board, fishermen may qualify for up to $250.

The money can be used to cover bank fees and other expenses.

'They accept donations and then they distribute the money directly to the commercial fishermen, those guys that really need the help. Some of it might be a little help to pay their electrical bill and put food on the table,' said Gary Bauer of Pontchartrain Blue Crab in Slidell.

The foundation's funds are administered by the South Central Planning and Development Commission.
