HARAHAN, La. -- Harahan got hit with a rash of vehicle burglaries overnight.

Eight cars were burgled and two stolen between midnight and 6 a.m. Monday, according to Police Chief Mac Dickinson.

The doors were unlocked in each vehicle, and the owners of two cars left their keys inside, he added. Those two cars -- a 2012 Hyundai Tucson and a 2004 Dodge Durango -- were stolen.

A shotgun and a pistol were among the many items taken from inside the vehicles. The heists took place in a cluster, spread across three streets: Colonial Club Drive, Tyler and Franklin avenues. Investigators recovered some fingerprints and video footage, making Dickinson confident that an arrest is near.

'We want to advise the citizens to please lock their vehicles and report any and all suspicious behavior,' Dickinson said.
