NEWORLEANS - A 16-year-old has been arrested after being accused of opening fire on a UNOcollege student who was sitting in his car last Friday night in New Orleans East.

The teen, whose name was not released, was booked into the Juvenile Division with one count of second-degree murder.

According to police, the suspect opened fire on 24-year-old Valan May as he sat in the car in the 7800 block of Burke Street on Oct. 19.

May was rushed to the hospital and died the next morning.

Police said members of the NOPD's violent offender unit and U.S. Marshals located the suspect at his home in the 8900 block of Curran Blvd. They said he was arrested without incident.
