METAIRIE, La. Saints running back Darren Sproles and two other key players along with a significant role player will not play on Sunday against the undefeated Falcons after not practicing at all this week.

Sproles missed his sixth consecutive practice with a broken left hand, an injury suffered in the Oct. 28 loss at Denver that already has kept him out of one game.

Meanwhile, defensive end Junior Galette (left ankle) and right tackle Zach Strief (left groin), both injured against Philadelphia on Monday night, will miss time. Galette has four sacks this season in a rotating role on the defensive line.

Strief was in Philadelphia earlier this week being seen by Dr. William Meyers, who has seen multiple other Saints players for sports hernia surgery in the past. Acting head coach Joe Vitt wasn't clear on the exact injury, however.

'I don't know if that's a sports hernia,' Vitt said. 'I don't know if that's a groin injury. He's due back today at five o'clock. I'll get filled in on exactly where he is when he gets back. But he won't play in this game.'

Sports hernia's have sidelined players 3-4 weeks in the past.

As for Galette, the Saints will use end Turk McBride in his place. McBride missed four games earlier this season after injuring his left ankle against Washington in the season opener. He has been a healthy scratch in two of the past three games.

'Right now I'm just being a professional about it,' McBride said. 'You roll and do your job. The team has called me to perform and do what I have to do and that's exactly what I'm going to try to do.'

Receiver Courtney Roby hasn't practiced since injuring his left shoulder against Denver. The special teams captain will miss his second consecutive game.
