NEW ORLEANS -- Police have captured an Orleans Parish Prison inmate after he escaped this weekend.

According to Sheriff Marlin Gusman, they discovered the inmate, identified as 40-year-old Mitchell Manning, was missing after noticing that one of the tents that houses the inmates was damaged.

They later found Manning at a Baton Rouge hotel.

Manning was in prison on charges of domestic abuse battery, home invasion, simple criminal damage to property, possession of marijuana and possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine.

Before his arrest, he was free on a $45,000 bond awaiting trial on a charge of distribution of cocaine.

Police also arrested Tawaina White, 30, on a charge of assisting in a simple escape. Officials say White provided money and a cellphone to Manning, and she violated a protective order issued by the Court related to Manning's pending charge of domestic abuse battery.
