NEW ORLEANS-- It's been an excruciating week for the family of 26-year-old Terrilynn Monette.

'My hands are like sweaty palms now, but we are trying,' said her sister, Kandice Enclade. 'We know we are going to find Terrilynn. We do.'

A week after she vanished, Monette's family was joined by New Orleans Police and 300 volunteers to search City Park. She and her late model Honda Accord were last seen outside nearby Parlay's Bar in Lakeview. Teams of volunteers searched wooded areas and along the numerous canals that run through City Park, hoping to spot any sign of Monette or her car.

'This has really motivated me. The crowd out here is absolutely wonderful. It was unexpected,' said Ronda Jones, a teacher and co-worker.

Monette is a teacher at Woodland West Elementary School in Harvey. Her co-workers were out in force on Saturday and, along with her family, they donned shirts bearing Monette's picture.

'The family had stressed that they really, really wanted shirts,' said Melissa Meza, a fellow teacher. 'So, I got in touch with my husband and, being that we're part of the family, too, we thought it would be fitting for us to have them as well.'

Other co-workers seemed overwhelmed by the number of people, some complete strangers, who came to look for Monette.

'I am just so filled with joy right now that so many people in the city care so much to come out and try to find one of our co-workers, one of our family members,' said Kristen Burke, who also teaches at Woodland West.

Monette's family shares a deep appreciation for the support.

'I just want everybody to know that we really appreciate the support that they're showing us,' Enclade said. 'And we really just want to thank everybody for what they've done to help us.'

Monette's car is a 2012 black Honda Accord with license place number WUN 494. Anyone with information on Monette's whereabouts is being asked to call Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
