MARRERO, La. -- Jefferson Parish deputies have arrested a man on drug charges and for filing a bogus kidnapping call.

Deputies arrested Craig Trufant, 55, Monday evening.

Col. John Fortunato, a spokesman for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, said Trufant allegedly made the call so deputies would arrest a friend of the victim who owed him money.

Statements obtained from a witness and alleged victim indicated Trufant made up the bogus kidnapping call in order to get law enforcement to arrest a friend of the victim because he owed the dealer money.

The victim, 32-year-old Kynisha Kinney, said she was never kidnapped and was found in good health. Deputies arrested her because of an outstanding attachment.
