MERAUX, La. -- Police arrested a man last Friday who threatened a teen girl with promises that he would post their sex video on the Internet if she broke up with him, according to the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office.

The Violet girl told her mother of the threat and called the sheriff's office, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

Authorities said the teen wanted to end the relationship, but 21-year-old John Johnson, Jr. claimed he made a sex video of them and threatened to post it online. Detectives said Johnson admitted the couple had sexual relations after meeting on a social networking site earlier this year.

He also said no video existed, only claiming there was one so the teen would not leave him, detectives said.

Johnson was booked with two counts of carnal knowledge of juvenile teen and with extortion for his attempt to continue the relationship through his threat, the sheriff said. Authorities put Johnson in St. Bernard Parish Prison on a $75,000 bond.

Pohlmann said the case highlights the need for parents to try to monitor their under-age juveniles' use of social networking sites and relationships they form with people they know only through contact on the Internet.
