HARVEY, La. -- A suspect in the slaying of two Southern University who were found shot to death in Harvey last week is now in custody.

U.S. Marshals arrested 20-year-old Irvin Harris at about 4:40 p.m. Friday in the 2300 block of Chippewa Street.

Deputies found 19-year-old Nikiayn Westerfield and 19-year-old Dave Harrison, both suffering from gunshot wounds, inside of a vehicle Tuesday. They were pronounced dead on the scene.

Harris was able to escape from deputies last week during questioning.

Harris faces two counts of first-degree murder. He is being held in the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center.

Jeremy Coleman, 19, has also been charged in the case.
