Bayou Corne, La. - Not even 12 hours after the giant sinkhole in Assumption Parish swallowed up a group of tall cypress trees, it has happened again.

New video from Parish Officials with the Emergency Preparedness Office, show another tree being sucked into the swampy waters of the sinkhole.

Residents in Assumption Parish say they have been living with the sinkhole for months, and actually seeing the video of the tall cypress trees disappearing into the water is shocking, even to them.

They also say they are grateful for the video because it is now accomplishing what residents have wanted for months, serious attention.

The State Department of Natural Resources says the recent activity at the sinkhole does not represent a new threat to public safety.
