METAIRIE, La. Dynamic defensive end Cameron Jordan returned to practice, albeit on a limited basis, Thursday and strengthened the odds that he'll play for New Orleans on Sunday against Buffalo.

For the second straight day, however, tight end Jimmy Graham did not practice and his ability to play against the Bills becomes more iffy.

'Tomorrow will be an important day,' Saints coach Sean Payton said of Graham, adding he was day-to-day.

Graham injured his left foot in New Orleans' Oct. 13 loss at New England that eventually kept him from returning to the game.

Should he be unavailable Sunday, the Saints would rely on Benjamin Watson and Josh Hill, both of whom Payton said the team is comfortable with.

'That's kind of what we're set up to do,' Hill said. 'Ben is a great player and we're just going to step up in spots that they put us in and do what we have to do.'

Defensive end Tyrunn Walker (left knee), safety Roman Harper (knee) and running back Mark Ingram (toe) also sat out. Cornerback Rod Sweeting (hip) stretched with the team early in practice before leaving and didn't practice.

Tackle Zach Strief (ankle) was limited while receiver Lance Moore (hand) and safety Malcolm Jenkins (back) were full.
