NEWORLEANS-- The New Orleans Fire Department is investigating a two-alarm fire in the Treme neighborhood.

On Saturday at around 4 p.m. firefighters were called to a fire near the intersection of St. Louis and North Prieur streets. The fire badly damaged the structure at the location, which appeared to be vacant.

Thick, dark smoke from the fire was visible from Interstate10.

The fire department is still investigating the cause of the fire.There is no word on whether the building was actually occupied at the time.
