PONTCHATOULA, La. -- The Tangipahoa Sheriff's Office has arrested a man they say stole scrap metal from a Northshore school very early Friday morning.

According to the Sheriff's Office, a Deputy Was patrolling Highway 22 around 4:00 a.m. in Pontchatoula, when he saw 23-year-old Jobe Jenkins leaving the Ponchatoula High School campus in a truck.

The deputy stopped Jenkins and Jenkins appeared very nervous and evasive as to where he acquired the items in his truck bed.

Jenkins had a noticeable amount of scrap metal in the bed of his truck, which was later determined to be metal stolen from the school.

Deputies say he was booked for burglary and later admitted to theft of the metal.
