NEW ORLEANS -- Police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide Thursday night near the New Orleans Fair Grounds.

Police found the bodies of a man and a woman in a home in the 2800 block of Fortin Street at about 8:30 p.m.

NOPD spokesman OfficerFrank Robertson said detectives believe it was a murder-suicide. Both the man and woman were suffering from gunshot wounds, but the man's wound is believed to be self-inflicted.

Robertson said it's possible the bodies had been there for more than a day.

A neighbor told Eyewintess News reporter Thanh Truong said it is usually a very quiet neighborhood with very few incidents.

The victims haven't been identified.
