JEFFERSON PARISH The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a homicide after a woman's body was found in the Barataria Waterway in Crown Point Saturday morning.

Sheriff Newell Normand says the victim has been identified as 48-year-old Tracy Eskine of Marrero.

Sheriff Normand says at around 7 a.m. a boater spotted a body in the water near Glisson Park on Sharpe Road. The body was retrieved and officers determined that the body appeared to have been in the water for a short time.

Sheriff Normand says an autopsy showed that Eskine died from blunt force injuries.

Tracy Eskine is described as a white female, five feet and five inches tall, weighing 110 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair. She has a tattoo on her left rear shoulder of a sparrow with a rose and the initials 'JR'. Eskine was found only wearing a red and black blouse, a leopard printed bra, and socks.

Anyone with information that may help JPSO with their investigation into this homicide is urged to call CRIMESTOPPERS at 822-1111.
