HOUMA, La. -- A Thibodaux woman was arrested Wednesday after she was found walking down Tiger Drive with a crack pipe and a small amount of cocaine while her two young children were alone at home, police said.
Deidre Thomas, 42, 1212 Tiger Drive, is charged with child desertion and possession of cocaine among several other charges, police said. She is being held at the parish jail in lieu of a $14,550 bond.
Lafourche sheriff's deputies said they saw Thomas about 2:15 a.m. and stopped to check on her. She told them her two children, ages 4 and 9, were home alone.
The children were turned over to a family member.
