DULAC, La. -- A 54-year-old woman is still in the hospital after a dog attacked her early Sunday morning in Terrebonne Parish, according to the sheriff's office.

The incident happened at about 4:50 a.m. in the 200 block of Orange Street in Dulac.

According to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office, the dog attacked the 54-year-old woman inside her mobile home. She was able to escape while leaving the dog inside the trailer.

The woman, who wasn't identified, suffered serious injuries to her left arm and to both of her legs. Her leg injuries stretched from her knees down to her ankles.

She he had to undergo emergency surgery because of the injuries and is still in the hospital.

Deputies did not release any information on what will happen to the dog, which they described as a 70-pound pit bull breed.
