LAFOURCHE, La. -- A man and woman wanted in Missouri have been arrested for firing shots at two vehicles in Lafourche Parish, according to the sheriff.
Justin Rice, 26, and Christina Higgins, 35, were arrested Tuesday in Golden Meadow after several days of reports of gunfire on moving vehicles.
Sheriff Craig Webre said the first report came July 31 on Hwy. 308 in Lockport. He said a woman turning into a business parking lot heard something hit her vehicle. When she called police, they found a bullet lodged in the door. Witnesses reported a green SUV traveling behind the victim's car.
On Saturday at about 9:30 p.m., a similar report surfaced. Webre said a resident drove up to a car matching the description of the prior shooting and asked if they needed any help.
The man pulled out a gun and fired at the resident while he was still in his car. The car then drove off before stopping and firing at the vehicle again.
It wasn't until Tuesday at 5:15 p.m. that deputies were able to spot the vehicle. They made a traffic stop near Hwy. 1 in Golden Meadow, and inside the vehicle they found 9mm shell casings and other evidence tying them to the case.
Police placed Rice and Higgins under arrest in connection with the two incidents.
Rice faces one count of attempted second-degree murder and two counts of aggravated criminal damage to property. Higgins is charged as a principle to all three crimes.
The couple have been placed in the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux. Rice is being held on a $100,000 bond and Higgins on a $40,000 bond.
