Welcome back, my hearty EOSB friends. It has been a long offseason but a good summer. The EOSB took its show on the road internationally (pictures not included) and tried to help with foreign relations (pictures also not included).
But beginning today, we're back and that means Saints Linkage makes its 2010 season debut. We're going to chronicle the activities that take place in the lovely little burg of Metairie, where the sun always shines and the heat isn't hot.
So, let's get started.
The Saints did what just about everyone expected them to do on Wednesday when they signed quarterback Patrick Ramsey. They also inked tight end Jimmy Graham, a mid-round draft selection for the team.
Yet, 2009 isn't completely done just yet - the Saints are set to visit the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl win with the president.
Running back Lynell Hamilton and safety Roman Harper visited the WWL-TV French Quarter studios recently and said they're ready to defend their title.
Elsewhere around the interweb:
Sheldon Mickles of the Baton Rouge Advocate writes that the Saints are set to report to camp today to take physicals and to check in before Friday's first day of camp.
Mickles also puts down several questions the Saints must answer before their Sept. 9 season-opener against Minnesota.
And because the Saints signed Ramsey, it made it easy for former backup quarterback Mark Brunell to take his services to New York, where he'll be a backup for the Jets.
We all know that Drew Brees is popular; anyone who went to one of his book signings in New Orleans knows that. But he's also popular outside of the Crescent City, the Advocate's Katie Kennedy writes.
Chris Singleton of the Houma Courier says it's hard enough to repeat in the NFL. But the Saints will have to do it in a tough NFCSouth, he writes.
Jason Pugh of the Shreveport Times writes about the questions the Saints must answer to have another standout season.
Jeff Duncan, EOSB friend and writer extraordinaire, previews training camp in the only way he knows - with flair.
Gannett News writes that safety Darren Sharper expects to be ready for training camp.
Steve Hunt of Fox Sports Southwest writes the reasons the Saints won't repeat.
Mike Herndon, another pal of the EOSB (who isn't?), chronicles the Lombardi Trophy's visit to Mobile in the Mobile Press Register.
Casey Gisclair of the Tri-Parish Times says the Saints have gone from being the hunters to being the hunted.
Bill Vilona of the Pensacola New Journal believes this has been the best of times for Saints fans, at least the ones in New Orleans.
Jarrett Bell of USAToday writes that the Colts could only begin to prepare for this season by watching the Super Bowl loss to the Saints. Saints fans, meanwhile, call that a daily routine.
Athlon Sports, in its season preview, believes the Saints have what it takes to make another deep run in the playoffs.
Michael Lombardi of NFL.com says the Saints and Head Coach Sean Payton are 'ready to play the role of the hunted.'
Pat Yasinskas, yet another friend of the EOSB, says that Jason Kyle's name could on the chopping block for the Saints.
Charles Grant has signed with the Dolphins.
Keith Null of Who Dat Dish says first-round pick Patrick Robinson is unlikely to sign before Friday.
