NEW ORLEANS - The New Orleans Hornets donated a Boeing 727 to Baton Rouge Community College for the use in the school's aviation program.

The program will cover airframe and power-plant maintenance, as well as the servicing of avionics, with the goal of helping students prepare for taking an FAA license test.

'This is a tremendous gift,' BRCC Chancellor Myrtle E. B. Dorsey said. 'We are deeply grateful to the New Orleans Hornets for their contribution toward our work to expand the educational opportunities available to our students.'

The school is aiming for 2012 to start the aviation program.
