METAIRIE, La. The Saints placed backup tackle Alex Barron on injured reserve Thursday nearly a week after the lineman had surgery to repair his left meniscus.

They replaced his spot on the roster with cornerback Quincy Butler.

Linebackers Ezra Butler (sports hernia), Ramon Humber (right quad) and Clint Ingram (right hamstring); defensive tackle Tom Johnson (left calf); cornerbacks Tracy Porter (left knee), Johnny Patrick (right MCL) and Fabian Washington (hamstring); defensive end Jeff Charleston (left ankle); and running back Joique Bell (left PCL) will not play in Saturday's preseason game at Houston.

Cornerback Leigh Torrence (right hip) and tight end Tory Humphrey (right knee) are questionable while free safety Malcolm Jenkins (right knee) is likely to return. Both Torrence and Jenkins practiced while Humphrey did not.

Right guard Jahri Evans (knee) didn't practice Thursday but will play Saturday.

Meanwhile, safety Chris Reis and linebacker Jonathan Casillas both missed for the births of their respective babies.
