NEWORLEANS - After accepting a ride from a man on Sunday night, a woman was able to stave off his attempt to rape her, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

The victim was walking near the corner of North Claiborne and Esplanade Avenue when she got into the suspect's vehicle around 9:30 p.m.

The man attempted to rape her outside a house in the 4600 block of Bonita Drive, but she escaped, according to investigators.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic that is approximately 30-years-old with black hair and a missing front tooth. He is believed to be driving an olive green Trailblazer with heavy body damage on the entire left side.
