NEW ORLEANS -- President Obama arrives in New Orleans with some important stops on his itinerary.

'What the president is trying to do is basically motivate and energize core supporters, those who support him, large and small donors,' said political analyst Dr. Silas Lee.

When it comes to campaign contributions, Lee says every fundraising event makes an impact throughout the election season.

'This is going to be a very intense and expensive campaign, and therefore every season is a peak period when it comes down to raising campaign resources,' Lee said.

Lee and Eyewitness News Political Analyst Clancy DuBos agree, Louisiana isn't exactly a battleground state, as Republicans are expected to have the November vote locked up.

But, they say both candidates can still benefit from stopping in.

'We are a poor state overall, but there is a lot of wealth here, politically,' DuBos said. 'You have a lot of successful trial lawyers. You have oil and gas interests, some of whom would be willing to give to both parties.'

And with visits from both Romney and Obama several days apart, it seems they're taking advantage.

'Mr. Romney came to Baton Rouge and Governor Jindal hosted a fundraiser for him that netted, I think, $2 million. So, that's a very nice take for a single event,' DuBos said. 'While Louisiana may be solidly in the GOP corner in terms of its electoral votes, there are a lot of people -- a lot of moderates, a lot of loyal Democrats -- who support the Democratic party, who support President Obama, and they're happy to give their money to his campaign.'

The president's first stop is a private event at an Uptown home, where 20 guests are donating $25,000 each.

As for this event, 400 supporters are paying between $250 to $5,000 to hear the president speak.

Again, he's scheduled to arrive at 5:45 p.m., and we'll have more on that at 6:00 p.m.
