ROBERT, La. - The suspect in a fatal hit and run involving a bicyclist turned himself into the Tangipahoa ParishSheriff's Office on Thursday morning, according to the Louisiana State Police.

The incident occurred on November 11 near an area that residents said is hazardous because of increased traffic on the road, crumbling pavement and a lack of shoulders on LA 445.

Cyclist Bruce D. Burge, 58, was struck from behind that night, but his body wasn't discovered until near day break.

Burge was a Vietnam vet, father and grandfather.
