NEW ORLEANS -- A father and son are in jail on charges that they were growing marijuana plants in their Livingston home.

Cary Caruso, Sr., 44, and Derek Caruso, 19, both face one count of cultivation of marijuana.

Lori Steele, a spokesperson for the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office, said deputies were alerted to their home in the 17500 block of J.B. Averett Road in Livingston after receiving multiple drug-related complaints.

After deputies arrived on the scene, they detected the smell of marijuana, Steele said, and later found two marijuana plants inside.

The Carusos are out of prison after they both posted $100,000 bonds.

They both face up to 30 years in jail if convicted.
