SLIDELL, La. -- A Slidell man was killed in a fatal, two-vehicle crash early Friday morning in which one driver is suspected of being impaired, according to Slidell Police.

Around 2 a.m., Ronnie Holmes, 42, of Slidell, was driving south on Front Street at a high rate of speed and without his headlights. Holmes, according to police, blew through a red light at the intersection of Fremaux Avenue and hit a pickup truck.

The driver of the pickup, Jeffery Broussard, 23, suffered minor injuries, and Holmes was pronounced dead on the scene. Holmes was not wearing his seatbelt, according to police.

According to police, Holmes was deteremined to be a fault and suspected to be impaired while driving. Results from a toxicology test are pending.
