NEWORLEANS-- Interstate-10 westbound was closed for over two hours while police investigated a fatal double shooting, according to Officer Frank Robertson, a spokesman for the New Orleans Police Department.

The shooting happened shortly before 3 a.m. Two male victims were shot inside a vehicle, according to Robertson. I-10 West was closed around the Metairie Road Exit while police investigated the shooting.

When officers arrived on the scene, the two men were found shot inside a silver Nissan Maxima, said police.

The victims were taken to the hospital, according to Roberston. One victim, the 25-year-old passenger, was pronounced dead, and the second victim, the driver, a 23-year-old man, is in stable condition, according to police.

A dark colored vehicle was seen fleeing towards the westbound North Causeway Boulevard Exit.
