NEW ORLEANS -- Nine weeks have passed since Jefferson Parish teacher Terrilynn Monette went missing after leaving a Lakeview bar.

Wednesday night, a former Heisman trophy winner and NFL Pro Bowler reached out to Monette's school by honoring other local educators.

For the first time in what feels like an eternity teachers at Woodland West Elementary School are getting a chance to kick-back.

'It's a good outlet for us. We've been under so much stress with everything that's happening,' said teacher Latonga Holifield.

Earlier this week, a crew of volunteers pulled submerged vehicles out of Bayou Saint John. They have been searching for Monette's black, two-door Honda Accord.

'We all really, really miss her. We pray for her every day,' said teacher Maria West.

Monette was out with friends at Parlay's Bar in Lakeview on March 2. Police say the last-captured image of the 26-year-old shows her making a left turn onto Marconi Drive at Harrison. She hasn't been seen or heard from since.

'Hoping, waiting for that good news,' said principal Amy Hoyle.

The baffling case caught the attention of former Heisman winner Charles Woodson and his foundation, who reached out to Hoyle.

'They wanted to help her. They couldn't think how they could help her. So they said we can help teachers like her, the people who work at Woodland West every day to help the children there,' said Hoyle.

The football star sent Monette's colleagues special t-shirts for Teacher Appreciation Week. On Wednesday night they were all treated to dinner at Applebee's in Algiers.

'It really shows how much he appreciates us for what we do and that he wants us to have something to get our minds off what's going on at the school since Ms. Monette has become missing,' said West.

The community plans to band together again later this month. On Saturday, May 18 at 5 p.m. a vigil will be held for Monette outside Parlay's Bar.
