NEW ORLEANS, La. -- A Texas woman who went missing for 10 days after visiting NewOrleans has been located in a local hospital, according to Officer Garry Flot, New Orleans police spokesman.

The family of 28-year-old Meredith Johnson said that the private investigator they hired to search for her received information on whereabouts, following an Eyewitness News story aired on her disappearance.

Johnson disappeared two days into her visit in New Orleans. Her family says she is struggling with a mental illness and they said in a Friday night interview they were desperate to find her.

When Johnson suddenly packed her bags and left her Texas home for New Orleans without a word it shocked her family.

'It was very out of the ordinary. She was extremely close with my mom,' said her older brother Brian Johnson.

The family hired a private investigator to try to locate Johnson.

The French Market was the last place she was seen. Security cameras in the area caught the last glimpses of her sitting on a bench with a stranger, but that is where the trail went cold.

But Saturday morning police said she had been located, and the family says Johnson is now recieving the help she needs.
