The 30-minute special, 'Tragedy to Triumph: The Musical Bridge Between New Orleans and Japan,' is produced and written by Eric Paulsen. Premiering tonight on Channel 4, it features musicians from the Tipitina's Foundation music internship program and students from L.B. Landry/O. Perry Walker High School, who traveled to Japan.

The program chronicles the once-in-a-lifetime trip last year made by more than a dozen young New Orleans musicians to Japan, funded in part by the Tipitina's Foundation.

The cultural exchange program was designed to thank the Japanese for their help rebuilding local school music programs after Hurricane Katrina, while also helping to lift the spirits - through music - of those in Japan who lost loved ones and property in the 2011 earthquake and tsunami.

'Tragedy to Triumph' airs tonight at 6:30 p.m. on WWL-TV Channel 4.
