NEW ORLEANS -- Police have a suspect in custody in connection with the murder of a 38-year-old man last week.

The shooting happened near the intersection of N. Derbigny and Mandeville Street at about 4:45 p.m. Saturday.

Police have charged Nytilex 'Lex' Jones, 31, with the second-degree murder of 38-year-old Samuel Kelley. They apprehended him in the 2600 block of North Villere Street.

Jones has a lengthy criminal history. He's been arrested for attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, several drug charges and more.
