SLIDELL, La -- Louisiana State Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle accident in Slidell that happened around 8:40 p.m. Monday, near the I-10-Fremaux interchange.

Troopers say the passenger, 25-year-old Lauren Gregor, was killed in the crash when she was ejected from a vehicle driven by 24-year-old Cody Rafter. Both Gregor and Rafter are from Gautier, Mississippi.

According to State Police, Rafter was driving a 2010 Chevy Malibu eastbound on I-10 in Slidell, when the couple got into an altercation inside of the vehicle. Rafter lost control of the vehicle near the Fremeaux interchange, Gregor was ejected, and the car landed on top of her.

Gregor was taken to Ochsner Northshore where she later died.

Rafter suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Witnesses of the crash stopped when they saw the accident and lifted the car off of Gregor.

At this time, no charges have been filed and Troopers say they have no reason to believe Rafter was intoxicated. However, toxicology tests were routinely administered and results are pending.
