NEWORLEANS-- Saturday was a good night for the incumbents as several of the current City Council members cruised to re-election, getting over 50 percent of the vote and winning their respective races outright.

Councilmember Stacy Head won re-election for the At-Large Division 1 seat, getting 62 percent of the vote, 51,287 votes, while Eugene Green garnered 38 percent of the vote -- 31,092 votes. Head took over the seat in an special election in April 2012 after Arnie Fielkow stepped down.

Susan Guidry had an easy night as well in her re-election bid, getting 67 percent of the vote -- 11,820 votes -- beating the four challengers -- Drew Ward, Jason Coleman, David Capasso and Stephen Gordon -- for the District A seat.

James Gray had the closest re-election bid on the evening, defeating Cynthia Willard Lewis and Andre Kelly for the District E seat. Gray received 53 percent of the vote, 8,577 votes, with Willard Lewis receiving 41 percent of the vote, 6,600 votes and Kelly getting 965 votes or 6 percent.
