THIBODAUX, La. -- A registered sex offender Blaine Granier, 24, 4237 Highway 307 in Thibodaux faces child pornography charges following an investigation between the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office and the Louisiana Attorney General's Office Task Force Unit, officials said.
At around 6:30 am on Wednesday detectives executed a search warrant on Granier's home after an Attorney General's Office investigation showed that he had used the internet to search for, download and share child pornography during a four year period from 2009 to 2013. During questioning Granier admitted to viewing and downloading files containing child pornography, but said that he had destroyed and disposed of the hard drives containing the files.
Granier was charged with two counts of attempted violations of LA R.S. 14:81.1 and was transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center. Granier was released Wednesday after posting $100,000 bond.
Granier was convicted for pornography involving juveniles in 2012 and required to register as a sex offender for 25 years.
