NEW ORLEANS- The New Orleans Police Department is asking for the public's help locating a vehicle wanted in a hit-and-run accident in Algiers that left a man severely injured Friday morning.
Police say the accident happened early morning near the intersection of Socrates Street and Shirley Drive. The accident involved two vehicles.
Police say the wanted vehicle's front license plate was knocked off from the impact and found on the scene. The plate is a Texas license plate, SCH481. The vehicle may still have a rear Texas license plate.
Police describe the wanted vehicle as a gray, four door vehicle. It is possibly a 2002 Toyota compact vehicle or SUV. The vehicle should have damage to the front passenger side and passenger side front fender.
According to police the wanted vehicle fled the scene after striking an unidentified 43-year-old man who was standing in the doorway of his truck. Police say the victim was dragged about 100 feet. The victim suffered severe injuries to his head, torso, and limbs. No word on his current condition.
