NEW ORLEANS -- A New Orleans man died in the hospital after he was shot Tuesday night in Treme, and now NOPD is looking for a person of interest in the man's murder.

The shooting happened at about 5:45 p.m. in the 700 block of N. Tonti Street.

According to NOPD spokesman Officer Garry Flot, a 31-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. Flot said the man, who won't be identified until his family is notified, died at the hospital.

Police are trying to identify and locate a person who may have information about the shooting. This individual is not a suspect, according to police, just a person detectives would like to speak to that may have information about the murder.

If you know anything that can help investigators, call Crimestoppers at 822-1111.
