NEW ORLEANS -- A New Orleans police officer avoided serious injury Monday night after an accident with a pickup truck.

It happened just after 6 p.m. at the corner of Broad and Thalia streets.

The front end of the police cruiser was heavily damage.

The truck involved in the accident went through a fence, knocked down a tree and came to rest on the side of a house.

No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the accident is under investigation.
