LSU Coach Les Miles described Tyrann Mathieu as 'a quality guy with behavior issues,' in dismissing Mathieu from the football team.

Miles said he expects Mathieu to transfer to another school. By NCAA rule, if he transfers to an FBS, a FootballBowl Subdivisionuniversity, he would have to sit out a year. Those schools used to be referred to as Division I schools. If hetransfers to a non-FBS school, hecould play immediately.

The most likely replacement forMathieu at cornerback appears to be redshirt freshman Jalen Collins of OliveBranch High School in Mississippi. Senior Wide Receiver Russell Shephard and sophomore receiver Odell Beckham, Junior appear the most likelycandidates to take over Mathieu's return duties.

The suspension comes one day after Sports Illustrated named Mathieu a first teamAll-American at two positions, cornerback and return specialist.

If he plays football at a lowerdivision schoolthis year, Mathieu would be eligible forApril's NFL Draft. Draft experts say his small size, 5-9 and 180 pounds, would probablypush himout of the first round of the draft, making him possibly a second rounder, and his dismissal from LSU could raise additional concerns about his character.
