The Covington Police Department tells Eyewitness News a Covington High school student is in a New Orleans hospital tonight suffering from serious injuries after a beating.

Capt. Jack West says they were called to the school around 7:30 a.m. about a fight between two juvenile boys. When officers arrived, one boy was sent to St. Tammany Hospital, then transferred to Ochsner in New Orleans.

The other boy was sent to the Florida Parishes Juvenile Center and charged with attempted second-degree murder and second-degree robbery.
