NEW ORLEANS -- A New Orleans police lieutenant has died in an accident in Mississippi.
Christopher Cambiotti, 42, died in a wreck in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.He was a passenger in one of the vehicles.
Cambiotti joined the force in 1997, and he served time in the Second, Third, Fifth, Sixth and Eighth districts.
'Chris Cambiotti was a great person, as well as an exemplary police officer,' said Superintendent Ronal Serpas. 'He'd always make a point of coming over to say 'hello' during breaks at weekly COMSTAT meetings. He always had something positive to say, and he always had a smile on his face.'
The New Orleans Police Department didn't release any details on what caused the crash.
A memorial service for Lieutenant Cambiotti will be held at Saint Louis Cathedral. Details of that service will be released when confirmed.
