NEW ORLEANS Police are searching for a 21-year-old Arkansas man after his mother contacted police to say he left for the New Orleans area and failed to return home, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

Jared Croom left Harrison Boone, Arkansas at 12 p.m. Sunday, according to police. He was traveling with his girlfriend Kirsten Polk, 19, as they were due to attend the funeral of Polk's great grandmother in Kenner.

Around 10 p.m. on Monday, Croom's mother received a phone call from her son. He told her that he and Polk were partying on Bourbon Street, police said.

Croom's mother was not aware of where her son was planning on residing during his stay.

Croom and Polk were set to return to Arkansas on Wednesday, because they both had work at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Croom's mother told police.

When the pair did not return Wednesday, Croom's mother called his cell phone multiple times, but she had no luck contacting him.

Croom is white, 6'1' tall and 165 pounds. He has green eyes and brown hair.

Polk is white, 5'2' tall and 105 pounds. She has blue eyes and red hair.

They were driving a green, 1998 Mercury Villager minivan with an Arkansas license plate. The VIN number is 4M2ZV111XWDJ12774.

Anyone with information should e-mail rmst.martin@nola.gov or call police at 504-658-5858.
