The retrial of a former New Orleans police officer charged with covering up the police killing of Henry Glover is slated for early March.

The new trial of former NOPDLt. Travis McCabe, who was initially convicted of writing a false report on the deadly police shooting, will begin March 11, according to a notice filed this morning in federal court.

U.S. District Court Judge Lance Africk threw out McCabe's conviction in May 2011, ruling that newly discovered evidence warranted a new trial. Last month, an appellate court affirmed Africk's decision.

That new evidence is an earlier draft version of the police report that McCabe was convicted of altering.

McCabe, along with former officers David Warren and Greg McRae, were convicted in the Glover case in December 2010. Two former NOPD lieutenants -- Robert Italiano and Dwayne Scheuermann -- were acquitted.
