NEW ORLEANS -- Don't be alarmed if you hear sirens blaring around noon Friday.

According to university officials, it's part of an outdoor warning drill.

It's designed to alert students when there's an on-campus threat, including a severe weather emergency, a violent intruder or other hazardous conditions.

Officials didn't say how long the drill will last.
