NEW ORLEANS - A fundraiser will be held to help pay for the medical expenses and lost income of a police officer who was shot when he responded to an armed robbery in February, according to New Orleans officials.

Officer John Passaro survived the shooting, but the road to recovery remains a long one, his wife said on March 12.

The performers scheduled to appear at the Rock and Roll Fundraiser are Charmaine Neville, The Wise Guys, Kandeeside, The Bucktown Allstars and Kingsroe.

It will be held April 17 at Generations Hall at 310 Andrew Higgins from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m.

Ticket are $25 and are available at any NOPD station, Gulf Coast Bank (848 Harrison, 201 Carrollton or 200 St. Charles) or www.NOPJF.org. Tickets at the door are $30.

Checks should be made out to the New Orleans Police and Justice Foundation and in the memo section indicate Officer John Passaro.

There will be a raffle of a 'NOLA Sports Package' valued at $1,500. It includes four tickets to an LSU Baseball game, New Orleans Bowl, PGA Golf tournament and a one game personal party in a New Orleans Zephyr's suite. Tickets are four for $20.
