NEW ORLEANS Police arrested a 15-year-old Tuesday for an armed robbery the previous week, according to Remi Braden, a spokesperson for the New Orleans Police Department.

The teenager admitted to Second District officers that he pointed a gun at a woman's head and took the victim's car, according to Braden.

On June 19, around 7 p.m., the victim was in the 8400 block of Fig Street, according to police. 'The victim said she was about to get into her car when a teenager approached her, put a gun to her head and said, 'Give me the keys. Don't scream, or I'll shoot you.' The gunman then left in the victim's 2008 Saturn,' Braden said.

On Friday, police recovered the Saturn near the intersection of Iberville and North Lopez streets. Four males who were in the car fled when police arrived, Braden said.

On Tuesday, detectives were at the intersection of Fig and Cambronne streets, where the initial carjacking occurred, on a follow up on a call of a suspicious person. The description matched the teen-aged carjacking suspect, according to Braden. After residents told police were the suspect could be found, officers picked the boy up at his home, which was near to the crime scene.

At the Juvenile Bureau, the teen admitted to the crime, Braden said. He was booked with relative to firearm use in a robbery.
