Tulane running back Orleans Darkwa was named to the Doak Walker Award watch list Thursday, the third consecutive year he has been a preseason candidate for the nation's top running back honor.

The PwC SMU Athletic Forum, which hands out the award, also named LSU's Alfred Blue and Louisiana Tech's Kenneth Dixon as preseason candidates.

Darkwa ranks fourth in rushing touchdowns (27), fifth in 100-yard rushing games (7), eight in rushing yards (2,090) and eight in rushing attempts (475) in Tulane history.

Injuries hampered his 2012 season, keeping him to just five starts in nine games. He finished with 241 yards on 81 carries last season, including a season-best 74 yards on 20 carries against UAB.
